World Peace Word Power Project
|
January 29, 2008 IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL THE CITIZENS OF EARTH (Please translate.) World Peace Word Power Project As most of you know, the words we use are extremely powerful. In a sense we create with our choice of words. While pondering what I could do, as an individual Citizen of Earth, to help expedite world peace right now, today, right where I am (at work – no choice there), I had this idea. Everyday people we interact with speak to us in much the same way, repeating words out of habit to acknowledge that they have noticed our entry into their personal space. They say, "Hi, Tom. How are you?" or "Good morning. How's it going?" They may or may not be interested in how we are – unless they are a close friend or relative - it's just one of our social habits, or "small talk". What if we were to take advantage of these opportunities that present themselves so often in the daily lives of most of us – within reason and without getting ourselves fired or locked up – and simply changed the words. We would catch our fellow humans off-guard, engage their attention, and hopefully get them thinking about world peace, too. What if … Tom's co-worker: "Hi, Tom. How are you?" Tom: "I am working on world peace. How are you?" TCW: "Fine, thank you. World peace?" T: "Yes. It IS a possibility, you know. Some people have given up on the idea or they just don't think about it because 'it is too depressing' or they think 'it is too unrealistic to believe that everyone on the planet is going to be able to agree to get along despite our differences'. World peace starts with each of us and with respect, toward ourselves and everyone else. Each of us can be an example of that respect, especially for our children." Or, if Tom's friend or co-worker is pro-active and interested in being part of the answer to worldwide violence against people and nature, he may respond by saying something like: TCW: "How? How are you working on world peace?" T: "I am promoting world peace by reminding as many people as I can of these 3 important points: (1) That it is possible for each of us, individually, to take part in the creation of world peace in our lifetime; (2) That our continued existence, and that of our planet, depends on it; and (3) That all we have to do is be an example of non-violence and conscious living in our daily lives. There is no telling what Tom's co-worker will say at this point. Hopefully he will not say, "You're crazy. I'm asking to be transferred to another cubicle." The best result of this exercise would be if the friend or co-worker decides to follow Tom's example and remind his fellow humans that there are actions we can take, even at an individual level, to promote world peace on a global scale. Gradually, the idea of world peace now will spread to our community leaders and politicians, presidents, prime ministers, and all decision-makers. When conflicts arise in societies, as they inevitably do, leaders will be more likely to choose non-violent and eco-friendly solutions, not just the quick and the slick (if you know what I mean). There will be resistance, no doubt, but it is our responsibility as Citizens of Earth to promote world peace through Conscious Human Evolution. Respectfully, Dreamsinger djlondon612@earthlink.net |
